NATURAL SCIENCE UNIT 3 - ANIMALS

Animals can be 

• oviparous: they come from eggs

• viviparous: they are born live from their mummy's body.

• carnivores: they eat meat.

• herbivores: they eat plants.

• omnivores: they eat meat and plants.

• vertebrates: they have a backbone and a skeleton in their body.

• invertebrates: they don't have a backbone. They have an exoskeleton outside.

What animal groups are vertebrates?

• MAMMALS:

   - they drink their mother's milk

• BIRDS:

• FISH:

- they breathe with gills (branquias)

• REPTILES:     

• AMPHIBIANS

- they lay soft eggs in water

What animal groups are invertebrates?

• ARTHROPODS:

   - they have a segmented body 

- they have limbs with joints  

- they have a thin (fino) or thick (grueso) exoskeleton

• MOLLUSCS:

 - they have a soft body

 - some have a shell

 - many have tentacles

 - they live in water or moist  places (sitios húmedos)

Living things

En Natural Science aprendimos algunas cosas sobre los seres vivos.

Living things are born, living things grow, living things reproduce and living things die.

Los seres vivos nacen, crecen, se reproducen y mueren.

Plants, animals and people are living things.

Las plantas, los animales y las personas son seres vivos.

Animals can be wild or domestic.

Los animales pueden ser salvajes o domésticos.

And they move in different ways.

Y se mueven de maneras diferentes.

Carnivores eat meat. Herbivores eat plants. Omnivores eat meat and plants.

Los carnívoros comen carne. Los herbívoros comen plantas. Los omnívoros comen carne y plantas.

Some animals are born from their mothers' body. These animals are viviparous.

Some animals are born from eggs. These animals are oviparous.

Algunos animales nacen del vientre de su madre. Estos animales son vivíparos.

Algunos animales nacen de huevos. Estos animales son ovíparos.
